You enter your email and a parent or guardian email. This creates a persistent linked relationship. Until approval is completed, account access stays restricted.
Your parent receives onboarding.
A clear email explains what That Teen is, what access includes, and what controls parents retain. After verification and approval, the account activates.
You build an anonymous identity.
No real name. No photo. No public personal identifiers. You choose a username, goals, and interests so your work can represent you.
Actions route through approval.
When you apply for an opportunity or join collaboration, a parent approval request is triggered. You see request status while safeguards run in the background.
We did not layer safety on top of the product. We built the product from safety outward. Every decision follows one principle: structured freedom.

A key youth-platform risk is removed at the architecture level. There are no private DMs between users.
